Why Brake Floaters?

    Separation of brakes from the suspension enables the brake influence to be individually tuned to track conditions without compromising handling.

How Do They Work?

    Brakes exert a tremendous force on the race car and there is a definite need to be able to direct those forces so that they help the car.  By putting the brakes on their own separate radius rods, the points at which the brake forces act on the chassis can be adjusted.  Since the rear end is free to move up and down the angle of the brake rod can cause the brake forces to push up (upward angle), straight forward, or down (downward angle), on the chassis. Due to the weight difference between the rear assembly and the car itself, the resulting pressures exerted by the brakes are felt at the tire patch.  When the brake rod pushes down on the chassis, pressure is relieved at the tire.  When the brake rod is level no pressure difference is seen at the tire.

Installation Instructions

    Put 5-hole mounts on left and 6-hole mounts on right.  Install so that middle hole on left and second hole from bottom on right allow brake rods to be level when brake rod is in top hole on floater and car is at ride height.  Adjust rod length so back side of rod mount on floater is vertical.

Adjusting Brake Rods

    Generally, whichever rod has the most angle will cause that side tire to bite better under braking.  More right rear keeps car straight, more left rear helps car turn.  Good staring position is left level and right 15 higher.
